• Extra informatie: - Official publication of the death sentence passed on Lorenz Stelzer, who came from Nußdorf near Vienna. He was conspicuous from 1805 onwards because of his affluence and simultaneous shyness from work. Struggling to keep his head above water with minor frauds, he was by 1817 no longer able to pay his rent. He then burned down his own house in Heiligenstadt, but numerous surrounding houses also fell victim to the flames. As a fire victim, he received a small compensation, which was quickly spent on drinking. After this he burned down the bathhouse in Heiligenstadt, in the hope to receive a wage for the reconstruction, which happened. But that didn't last long either and Stelzner, who now saw arson as an income model, burned down his own house again, but this time he was convicted and he also confessed to the two previous arson attacks.
