  • Extra informatie: - Copy of the first French commercial code, written in 1807, contained relatively few changes compared to the 1673 version. It was necessary to take into account the Civil Code of 1804. This was the first time that an official text regulated joint-stock companies, namely the public limited company and the limited partnership with shares. These two types of companies existed in 18th century practice. Thus, "companies composed solely of shareholders" anticipated the Sociétés Anonymes (SA) of the 1807 Code and limited partnerships with shares were found, for example, in the legal models adopted by the privileged (colonial) companies or other large private companies. Due to the limitation of liability of all shareholders, the 1807 code specified that the formation of Sociétés Anonymes was subject to government authorization (until 1867).
