The teachings of Johannes Horthemels, an anti-Spinozist, resulted in 1946 in this thesis on libertinism and the harmony between physical and natural laws. He became professor of philosophy in Groningen and one of the most influentual philosophers in the Netherlands during the 2nd half of the 17th century. Bunge.
